The produce doesn’t look appealing45% of fruit and vegetables that is produced around the world becomes food waste. And a lot of the time it’s because they don’t look right. This can be a mis-shaped carrot or an apple with a mark or slight wrinkle on the skin. These then get thrown away and are not eaten, causing more waste.
We have the idea that new and fresh food is betterBuying new food when you already have it in the cupboard or freezer and it never gets eaten and gets thrown away when found.

People making too much food and not eating it all
When people make meals or go out to restaurants and don’t finish their food a lot of the time the food goes in the bin or in the fridge to eat later. But a lot of the time people don’t go back and eat the food and it goes in the bin.

As a nation we take for granted the amount of food that we have readily available and are constantly throwing away more edible food each year. This is a major problem which has nasty effects on our country and others. With the amount of people around the world who don’t have food security the way we treat and manage our food is not a safe and smart way to go about food sustainability. And some of the reason why we throw away perfectly good food are ridiculous but there are some very simple solutions.
